I have not smoked for 13 years. It took a lot of failed attempts to finally quit because I thoroughly enjoyed smoking back in the day. Ok, I loved it. THERE I SAID IT. So often we tuck our ambitions and dreams in a safe, little compartment, hidden from view. Such a safe place to keep our hopes and dreams—no one ever has the opportunity to squash them. We all have defunct mental treasures that we hold close, whether they are outdated or never ever served us at all. Why do we cling to the useless? What do you do when everything seems to be falling apart? Moving forward and through is often times your best strategy and also the only way to find what you’re looking for. I’ve been thinking a lot about goals lately, what they mean, how we reach them and how they change us. When we are children, our minds are usually very full of sparkles, bunnies and cotton candy. Do you remember the first time you realized your sweet perception of reality was not the reality of the situation? Its an eye opener. I’ve got a little story about that. Your attempt at perfection is exhausting me. I mean, really? Here’s a secret. Not everything’s a negotiation and that’s a shame. There are times in our life when change offers us no choice in the matter, other than to make the best of it. Starting today, I’m going to kick my week of with a personal challenge. The following Monday I will let you know if I was a rock star or I stunk up the room. |
